At our second PPV, Shoot 2 Thrill, December 31st, we will have a show pitting the best of 50-50 Wrestling's alumni against FPW's finest!
What is 50-50 Wrestling?
It was an old company that went under after corruption took it over. But it brought out many stars, whom I will be discussing today.
You may use this thread to challenge 50-50 competitors and promo against them. 50-50 competitors may introduce themselves in this thread. At Shoot to Thrill, I will book the most intriguing matches, so make a good case for the match you want!
Now.. on to the talent announcements!
JACK SEVREN - FORMER 50-50 STAR/FORMER ROH STAR/CURRENT WWE NXT STAR
Pic Base: Curt Hawkins
Nickname: "The Best in the Game"
Hometown: Milwaukee, WI
Alignment: Tweener. Cocky but will get cheered to death at this point. Like face list-Jericho.
Theme Song: "15 Minutes" by Shattered Skies
Wrestling Style: Technical/High flying
Finishers: Top-rope lungblower & figure 4 leglock
Backstory: Jack Sevren was a former ROH World & TV Champion, PWG Tag Team Champion, & 50-50 Havok Champion before it went under. He was known for his fantastic wrestling ability, his experience all over the world, and his, well, "dickish" personality. He eventually became a fan favorite and got signed to NXT. But WWE have lent him to us for this tour!
BOBBY O - FORMER 50-50 STAR/FORMER WWE STAR
Pic Base: Roderick Strong
Nickname: "The Bastard" "BO3"
Hometown: Philadelphia, PA
Alignment: Heel. He's crazy and he has IED.
Theme Song: "This Means War" by Avenged Sevenfold
Wrestling Style: Technical/Powerhouse
Finishers: The Legacy Killer (punt), O Snap (anaconda vice set up by a superplex), & The Great Equalizer (lead pipe shot)
Backstory: For Bobby Odell, a wrestling legacy was in his blood. He just didn’t know it until he was 14 years old and his mom introduced him to his father, the legendary Bob Orton Jr. Bob wanted to be in his son’s life and even delighted in the fact that Bobby was “going into the family business.” However there was one caveat as Bob told his son that the only people who could ever know the truth about who he was were the two of them and his mom. That no one in the wrestling industry could know about Bobby being the illegitimate son and product of an affair, especially his half-brother Randy as Bob feared for his marriage and relationship with his other children.
Out of respect for his father and the brother he had unknowingly grown up idolizing, Bobby kept his paternity a secret as he was signed by NXT, won the NXT championship and received a main roster promotion at just 21 years old, earning him the nickname “The Natural”. Upon getting there however, Bobby couldn't help but target Randy, in an effort to prove to his father that he was every bit as talented as his half-brother. The two engaged in a bitter feud and it was only when Randy was about to punt Bobby in the head that Bob revealed to the world that the two were brothers. Much to Bobby’s surprise, Randy decided to embrace him and the two even worked briefly as a tag team, winning the championship as The Orton Dynasty.
Bobby was on top of the world at this point as one half of the tag team champions until he was attacked on his way to the arena one day, which resulted in some career threatening injuries. He missed over a year and was released from his WWE contract. When he returned to the ring, Triple H wanted to re-sign him but it was then that Bobby found out Randy was behind the attack because he was jealous of Bobby’s star rising above his own and no longer wanted to share the ring with his “bastard half-brother who was never good enough to bear the family name.” As their father remained neutral, ultimately showing Bobby that when the choice was between him and Randy that Bob would choose Randy every time, Bobby decided he needed to distance himself and opted to sign another contract offer he received from a start-up promotion in the UK.
At 23 years old, now going simply by Bobby O, the young wrestler decided to join 50-50 Wrestling, looking for a fresh start and a chance to make a name for himself outside of the Orton shadow. What Bobby didn't know however was that he was brought to 50-50 simply to be a cash mule for William Graves. Bobby did find success with the company, becoming the first ever 50-50 champion, but it came at a cost as trusting William led to Bobby's downfall. William stole CJ Holmes, Bobby's longtime girlfriend from him when it came out that the two had been having an affair for years, even back to when Bobby and CJ dated. It was also revealed that CJ was hired to lure Bobby to the company and used her relationship with him to get William what he wanted. This all came to a head and Bobby defeated William in a match, only to find himself later leading the group that would go against William's AOA. Bobby was the last man pinned in the match and was set off shortly after as he saw William and CJ kissing. Bobby exploded on his opponent with a lead pipe he had hidden under the ring and went to attack William as well. He was fired on the spot and 50-50 was closed shortly after due to William losing the company to his wife in divorce settlements.
Bobby went missing for 6 months before resurfacing at the PWG Battle of Los Angeles, screwing Jack Sevren over in a finals bout. From then on, Bobby became known as The Bastard BO3 as he worked various indies to accomplish two goals: become a champion and stop Jack Sevren from going to NXT. He didn't accomplish either goal and he instead was sent to prison for assaulting a poor indie worker with his signature weapon, a lead pipe. Bobby was recently released from prison and now he's got his sights set on cleaning up his act, focusing his rage into a way to win matches.
MDE - FORMER 50-50 STAR/CURRENT PROGRESS STAR
Pic Base: Jack Swagger
Nickname: "Simply Great"
Hometown: Plymouth, England
Alignment: Tweener but heel leaning. Generally doesn't care about anything but himself.
Theme Song: "Dance of the Knights" by Prokiev
Wrestling Style: Technical
Finishers: Gutwrench powerbomb & The Simply Great Stretch (the hold ZSJ used to beat Noam Dar in the CWC)
Backstory: MDE was trained at The Snakepit in Wigan, England when he was 20. He has never spoken about his time there, but fellow trainees have commented about his aloof attitude and his belief even in the early stages that he was better than all of them. From there he wrestled on the independent scene in the UK, becoming known across the North West of England as a talented technical wrestler but not quite reaching his full potential due his lack of desire to build relationships with promoters. A promoter once described him as someone who wanted to come in five minutes before his match, collect his money and leave. MDE finally found a regular home in the FWF, a young company with a lot of ambition who quickly began to broadcast online, giving MDE the chance to speak for the first time, revealing the cocky, arrogant persona of someone who believed that he was above everyone that he would face. He signed a one-year deal, winning the FWF world title after just three months in the company and then losing it after a five month reign. At the FWF annual awards, MDE exchanged words with Bret Hart, the guest presenter, leading to a rivalry with Michael Hart, who believed himself to be the son of Bret. MDE vowed that he would beat Hart at the biggest show of the year or he would leave the company. After losing the match, he made good on his promise, making no mention of where he would go next. Rumours circulated of him being signed by a new british promotion, 50-50 Wrestling, but he could not be reached for a comment. Soon enough, he did make his debut and quickly joined the stable that ultimately destroyed 50-50, The Agents of Anarchy. The last thing he did before leaving 50-50 was leave The AOA. Since then, he's worked various big UK promotions. He's known for his stoic attitude and technical prowess on par with the likes of Zack Sabre Jr.
THE GRAND MASTER - FORMER 50-50 STAR/FORMER NJPW STAR
Pic Base: Adam Cole
Hometown: Panama City, FL
Alignment: Heel but even other heels hate him
Theme Song: "Devil's Sky" by Yonosuke Kitamura
Wrestling Style: Comedy
Finishers: Small package & low blow
Backstory: Once an esteemed competitor in NJPW as a member of CHAOS & Bullet Club, The Grand Master has settled down to retire in the United States as a comedy wrestler. He's cocky... and he never backs it up.
NELSON QUINN - FORMER 50-50 STAR/CURRENT NJPW STAR
Pic Base: Dean Ambrose
Hometown: Portland, ME
Alignment: Heel. Hates everyone.
Theme Song: "NEW COKE" by HEALTH
Wrestling Style: Technical/Showboat/Hardcore
Finisher: Kisser Killer (superkick)
Backstory: Nelson Quinn was an indie mainstay in Maine before beginning to wrestle in England as part of 50-50 Wrestling. That's where he made his name as part of The Agents of Anarchy with MDE. After blowing up on the indie scene, he joined ROH and soon NJPW as part of Los Ingobernables de Japon, which he currently represents. He's known for his brash attitude towards lame gimmicks and overall willingness to curse all the time.
DAVEY JONES - FORMER 50-50 STAR
Pic Base: Braun Strowman
Nickname: The American Lunatic
Hometown: Truth or Consequences, NM
Alignment: Whatever he damn well pleases to be.
Theme Song: "South Texas Deathride" by Union Underground
Wrestling Style: Powerhouse with surprising agility
Finisher: Looney Bin (F5)
Backstory: As a young boy, he was always troubled. From being told he wouldn’t amount to anything because of his larger than average size, to parents that didn’t want him. He was always told that he was a mistake, and started taking out his frustrations out on others at school. It started by being a typical bully, turning into tormenting the family dog. When they came home to their dog skinned, hanging from the kitchen ceiling skinned, they finally had enough. When he was just 10 years old, they had him put into an insane asylum. There, he didn’t speak to hardly anyone. All he did was workout, and eat. At age 21, he checked himself out, moving from Brooklyn, New York, to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. With barely a dime to his name and only the clothes on his back, he took in a local Indy wrestling show. In a falls count anywhere, no DQ match, the heel of the match tossed the face outside the ring, near his front row seat. Whilst not looking, the heel struck him. That brought back memories of his father abusing him, and channeling that emotion, attacked the wrestler. The face ended up winning, and the promoter offered him a gig on the spot. After a few years, he was offered a tryout at WWE’s performance center and was given a trial match on an episode of NXT. There, he faced No Way Jose, but after a freak accident that left Jose paralyzed, WWE cut ties. Back to the Indy scene, he decided he didn’t want to stay in the U.S. and moved to England. He went to 5050 wrestling, under the premise of being able to have free reign, but after injuring Skyler Ryan was fired. He came back briefly, due to the company folding shortly after the 5050 vs AOA feud.
Since 5050, he took a closer look at his finances and decided to start up a new promotion. Two months after 5050, he received an invite to the Battle of Los Angeles tournament. He accepted, but on the condition that everyone else from 5050 got an invite, as well. There, he would tell everyone about the new promotion and try to restart what seemed promising.
That promotion would quickly go under and Davey Jones would disappear off the face of the earth, only to be contacted via email....
