Freedom Pro Wrestling S1 E1: Ride the Lightning
August 17th, 2017
Chicago, IL
Odeum Expo Center
"New World Symphony - 4th movement" hits as FPW owner, Jim Houston, enters the ring.JH: Welcome to the very first episode of Freedom Pro Wrestling!
The crowd breaks out into an "FPW" chant.
JH: I promise that this first episode will be jam packed with action, including 7 huge matches. Anyways, it's time for our first match, which will be a first round match in our prestigious FPW World Championship tournament and it will be commentated by Chicago's own Mike Watson and world famous wrestler, Steven Deville! Take it away, guys!
Match 1: Jerry Bishop vs Davey Jones
The ring announcer, Dasha Banks, steps into the ring as Jim exits.
DB: The following is your opening contest and it is a first round match in the FPW World Championship tournament and it is scheduled for one fall!
"The Comedians' Gallop" plays and Jerry Bishop walks down the ramp to a huge pop. He "conducts" his music all the way down before entering the ring and taking a bow.
DB: Entering first, from Kansas City, Missouri, Jerry "The Jester" Bishop!
The music switches to "Iridescent" as Davey Jones runs out of the entrance stage, full of energy. He high fives a few fans on his way to the ring before staring Jerry down.
DB: And his opponent, from the pacific ocean, "The Pirate" Davey Jones!
The two lock up to begin the match.
MW: Two fan favorites to start this show. Who do you think will win, Steven?
SD: I met both of these men backstage before the show and frankly, I think Davey will win.
MW: Why's that?
SD: He didn't annoy me before the show.
MW: Fair enough. Jerry can be annoying at times, but he gets the job done.
SD: I'll believe it when I see it.
Davey takes control with a headlock but Jerry quickly slips out of it and hits a step-up enziguri. Jerry goes for a quick cover.
1!
2!
Davey kicks out!
SD: I told you! Jerry doesn't have what it takes to get the job done.
Jerry begins to pick Davey up but Davey irish whips Jerry to the corner before chopping him a bit and hitting another irish whip into the opposite corner. Davey runs at Jerry but Jerry dodges and Davey hits the turnbuckle pad.
MW: Oof! Davey hitting the corner hard... and it looks like Jerry is going to the top rope!
SD: I hope he slips and breaks his legs.
Jerry jumps off of the top rope and hits a springboard forearm on Davey. He goes for the cover.
1!
2!
Davey kicks out!
MW: What does Jerry have to do to put Davey Jones away?
Davey gets behind Jerry and hits a german suplex followed by an armbar. Jerry looks like he might be about to tap but he manages to get to the ropes to break the hold.
SD: Dammit..
MW: Davey going for another suplex..
Davey attempts a second german suplex but Jerry doesn't budge and he eventually gets out of it with a rolling elbow. He hits a quick snapmare before lining Davey up for a kick.
MW: Can he hit it?
Jerry hits the penalty kick.
MW: Touchstone Takedown!
Jerry grabs Davey and gives out a big laugh before planting him with the Last Laugh.
MW: Is this it? Can he get to the semifinals of this title tournament?
SD: I sure hope not.
1!
2!
3!
The bell rings and the ref raises Jerry's arm.
DB: Here is your winner and advancing in the FPW World Championship tournament, Jerry Bishop!
SD: Ugh. He better not win this.
MW: You need to lighten up.
SD: You need to shut up.
Jerry offers Davey a handshake but Davey rolls out of the ring without acknowledging Jerry. Jerry quickly follows Davey to the back.
Jerry and Davey are arguing backstage when cameras catch up to them.
JB: Come on dude, can't we just be friends?
DJ: Do you think beating me makes me respect you? Heh, Matey, you've got a long ways to go before I respect you. Especially since I don't respect clowns.
Davey walks away as Jerry looks despondent. Azrael watches on as Jerry quietly goes to the locker room, pulling a comic book from out of his tights.
An English man approaches Azrael.
??: Hello there. My name's Nick Leeds.
Azrael looks at him, puzzled.
NL: I'm a manager. Do you know what that is?
Azrael shrugs before shaking his head.
NL: I will be watching your match very closely, so make sure you impress me. If you do, I'll help you get to the top.
AZRL: I don't want to get to the top. I simply want to learn.
NL: ...Fine. Never liked you anyways.
Nick walks away, leaving Azrael even more puzzled.
Match 2: Azrael vs Marcus Allen Jones
DB: The following contest is a first round match in FPW World Championship tournament and it is scheduled for one fall!
"Azrael" by The Betrayers begins to play as Azrael "flies" down to the ring on a zipline. Azrael strikes a pose in the ring as the crowd showers him in cheers.
DB: First, from the horizon above, "The Forgotten Angel" Azrael!
"Cult of Personality" blares but the song is drowned out by the immediate pop, followed by immense boos.
DB: And his opponent, from Chicago, Illinois, the self proclaimed "Smartest Man in Pro Wrestling" Marcus Allen Jones!
Marcus does a backflip on the stage before sauntering down to the ring, flashing an arrogant smile as he pulls out a paper that reads "#PunkWasRight".
Azrael offers a handshake to start the match but Marcus fakes him out.
SD: I just love Marcus! He's a great example of how everyone in this business should act: smart and fantastic at wrestling.
MW: He might be a little too cocky for my taste..
SD: What's wrong with being cocky if you can back it up?
Marcus and Azrael lock up but Marcus simply lets go and pats Azrael on the chest before turning to the crowd.
MW: Oh come on! What a disrespectful young man...
Marcus turns back around but he eats a roundhouse kick. Azrael goes straight to the top rope and he hits a moonsault before hitting a German suplex. Marcus rolls out of the ring in pain.
MW: What a combination Azrael hit him with! Marcus has gotta be out of it right now.
SD: Azrael has no respect for a future legend of this industry.
Azrael attempts a suicide dive but Marcus simply knees him in the head.
SD: A fantastic reversal!
Marcus begins to stomp on Azrael's head before throwing him back into the ring. He hits a snapmare driver and then he goes for the pinfall.
1!
2!
Azrael kicks out!
Azrael, shaky legged, struggles to get up.
MW: I think Azrael might be seriously hurt..
Marcus runs at Azrael to hit a swinging neckbreaker but Azrael picks him up and hits an inverted powerslam.
MW: Azrael trying to stall Marcus..
Azrael hits another german suplex on Marcus but this one hurts his neck. Azrael attempts a knee strike but Marcus reverses it into a frankensteiner.
MW: Marcus continuing to try and injure Azrael..
SD: Good! Sometimes we need a little ferocity in our competitors.
Marcus goes for the cover.
1!
2!
Azrael kicks out!
SD: Come on Marcus! You got this!
MW: Why do you love Marcus so much?
SD: We're best friends.
MW: Oh please.
SD: No, I'm serious.
Marcus grabs Azrael and he begins to slap him but Azrael puts Marcus into an armbar for his troubles.
MW: He's got the armbar locked in! This could be it!
SD: No! Come on Marcus!!
Marcus uses all his strength left to pick Azrael up (while he still has the armbar on) and slam him down onto the mat. Marcus stomps the mat, signaling a superkick, but Azrael catches him and hits a step up enziguri. Azrael quickly hits a basement dropkick, followed by a frog splash from the top rope, followed by a standing moonsault.
MW: This action is going faster than I can call it!
Azrael, still holding his neck, climbs the top rope once more, as he attempts a 450 splash. Marcus rolls out of the way, making Azrael crash face first into the mat.
MW: Oof! What a miss!
Azrael uses the ropes to get to his feet but Marcus hits him with a stiff knee strike.
SD: Six Stars!
Marcus chops Azrael before hitting another short arm bicycle knee strike. Azrael falls down, knocked out cold.
SD: Six Stars! Actually, that's twelve stars! Dave's gonna need a whole new scale after this performance.
Marcus mocks Azrael.
MAJ: This is how high flying is done!
Marcus goes to the top rope before turning to the camera.
MAJ: Screw you Trevor!
Marcus pulls off a beautiful 630 senton.
MW: The Mark-Out Moment connects!
SD: God knows I'm marking out right now!
1!
2!
3!
The bell rings and Marcus rolls out of the ring before the ref can raise his arm.
DB: Here is your winner and advancing in the FPW World Championship tournament, Marcus Allen Jones!
SD: I knew he would win.
MW: Wait, this just in, a fight has broken out backstage!
We cut backstage where we see Jeremiah Johnson attacking Clutch McCloud. Johnson grabs Clutch's arm and locks him into the Enlightened Act of Submission. A bunch of referees and trainers come down to break it up. Jim Houston angrily approaches Johnson, who lets go of the hold.
JH: What was this all about?!
Johnson replies smugly.
JJ: He wanted me to show him how he's a has been. I showed him. What are you gonna do about it?
JH: You know what? For this, you're suspended indefinitely! Now get out of my sight!
Johnson contemplates attacking Jim but he just pats him on the chest and leaves, smirking and mouthing "that titles gonna be mine soon enough". Richard Crowley bursts into the room and immediately begins talking with Clutch. Jim rubs his temple, obviously stressed.
Match 3: Zeke vs Justice Legal vs Erick Skaar
DB: The following contest is a triple threat match and it is scheduled for one fall! First, from Raleigh, North Carolina, Zeke!
"Burn In My Light" hits and Zeke walks to the ring, as confident as ever.
MW: Zeke is a very young man. The youngest in this match, actually. Only 22 years old.
SD: But I bet that gives him a chip on his shoulder and I know some people can be very dangerous when they have something to prove.
The song switches to "Immigrant Song" as Erick Skaar storms down to the ring.
DB: Next, from Bergen, Norway, Erick Skaar!
SD: Erick Skaar is here and it's time for FPW to meet Norwegian Strong Style!
MW: You're right. Erick is known for his incredibly stiff style.
DB: Last, from London, England, "The King of Extreme" Justice Legal!
"Wish it Away" suddenly plays. Justice Legal runs to the ring and he immediately starts to attack Erick and Zeke with a chair.
SD: How is this even legal?
MW: No DQ in a triple threat.. and besides, pain is justice.. and it's legal!
Legal hits a big boot on Zeke and he grabs Erick and he hits a t-bone suplex on him.
MW: Justice Legal is really destroying these competitors!
SD: Yeah, no kidding..
Legal then grabs Zeke and throws him shoulder first into the ring post. Legal sets up a chair and german suplexes Erick into it. Zeke tries to get some offense in with a lariat but Legal catches him with a DDT. Legal then picks Zeke up for a jackhammer but Erick hits an enziguri to break it up.
SD: It was almost over there!
Legal uppercuts Skaar and hits a snap suplex. Zeke hits Legal in the back with the chair.
MW: I think that only made him angrier..
Legal stares down Zeke, who drops the chair and slides out of the ring. Legal chases Zeke back into the ring where he hits a big boot before hitting a powerbomb lungblower and finally going for the cover.
SD: Devastator!
MW: It's over!
1!
2!
3!
DB: Here is your winner and facing Azazel later tonight, Justice Legal!
Justice Legal rolls out of the ring as he grabs a mic.
JL: Azazel! Justice is coming for you in the form of pain.. and it's legal!
The crowd pops as Legal leaves.
MW: What a match we have for later tonight!
SD: And what an absolutely dominating performance by Justice Legal!
Legal is backstage when he is approached by Nick Leeds.
NL: Hi, I'm Nick Leeds. I'm a manager. I loved your match-
JL: I don't need help.
Legal shoves Leeds out of the way before heading to the locker room.
Match 4: Athena Dai vs Freja - guest written by Adam Thompson/Anarchy
MW: Our next match is between two capable, up and coming women.
SD: It is definitely one to watch Watson.
DB: The following contest is a singles match scheduled for one fall!
"Come as You Are" by Nirvana begins to play as the fans start to cheer for first competitor in this match.
DB: Entering first, from Minneapolis, Minnesota, she is "The Goddess", Athena Dai!
Athena Dai walks out from backstage and starts making her way slowly down to the ring, calmly swaying along with the music and the cheers of the crowd.
MW: Athena Dai is a rather young fighter who's famously made her name working freelance for ROH and TNA.
SD: Not exactly known for working a "gentle" or "technical" style either. If kicking her opponent very hard in the head doesn't work then Athena's usual answer is to kick them again.
"Kaze Ni Nare" begins to play as a spotlight illuminates a fire exit behind the crowd, some of them cheering for the music and all of them turning their attention to the door as Dasha continues to speak.
DB: And her opponent, from Copenhagen, Denmark, the Ice Queen, Freja!
Freja appears in the doorway and starts making her way down through the crowd, being cheered loud enough to nearly block out Dasha's announcing.
SD: Dai's opponent is a seasoned MMA veteran with a 13/3 win-loss record after starting her career at an impressive 17 years old, not to mention the career she's had so far in the Squared Circle. I'd be willing to bet that many people here have pegged her as a favorite to win.
MW: Well Steven, I might even go as far as to say that Athena beating Freja would be a major upset.
After getting in the ring and playing to the crowd Freja retreats to her corner and waits for the bell to start.
Freja advances towards the center of the ring carefully, as does Athena Dai. They both seem to be waiting for a chance to strike, circling each other.
SD: In my opinion both of these women are being overly cautious by far, eventually someone needs to take the initiative and-
All of a sudden Freja takes a single step forward and hits a vicious roundhouse kick straight to Athena Dai's face, dropping her like a rock!
SD: -oh dear god!
MW: Freja taking your advice to heart Steven, nearly taking Athena's head off with a single kick!
Freja almost immediately drops to the mat and covers Athena, hooking the leg for a quick pinfall!
1!
2!
Athena kicks out!
SD: No matter how hard Freja can kick I don't see a pinfall going down this early on.
Athena pushes Freja off of her and clutches her head, evidently still feeling the effects from the roundhouse kick. Freja gets to her feet and grabs the downed Athena by the head, pulling her to her knees. Then Freja takes a single step back and lifts her foot, carefully aiming before sending a single thrust kick hard into Athena's forehead, the impact sending a loud smack through the room and leaving Athena slumped back, looking to the sky!
SD: This is looking to be a very one-sided contest so far, Athena's fans may be in for a pretty short display.
Suddenly Athena yells out loud, getting to her feet and charging Freja with a series of hard forearms to the head!
MW: Spoke too soon Steven, Athena doesn't seem to be going down quite that easy.
Athena finishes off with a spinning heel kick to Freja's abdomen and grabs Freja's arm, Irish whipping her into the ropes! Athena drops to the floor and Freja leaps over, rebounding off the ropes again but this time Athena lies is wait and catches Freja in positing for a T-Bone Suplex! Athena tries to lift her opponent only to catch a knee to the gut, stopping Athena's comeback in its tracks. Freja punches Athena in the side a few times, forcing Athena to release the suplex attempt. Freja immediately throws an elbow strike and Athena ducks under her arm, now locking in a full-nelson for another suplex attempt! Freja breaks out of the full nelson and swings right around throwing a high kick towards Athena's head, only for it to be ducked again! Athena grabs Freja from behind, finally hitting a vicious German suplex and bridging for a pin attempt!
1!
Freja kicks out almost immediately, her and Athena both rolling straight back up to their feet!
SD: This contest is picking up speed, Freja and Athena apparently an even match.
MW: However Athena seems to be slightly worse off than Freja.
The two women charge at each other and start grappling, Athena taking the advantage and swinging Freja into the corner! Athena grabs Freja's head with one hand and starts unloading forearm after forearm to Freja's face. The ref counts to three before Athena finally stops and throws Freja into the center of the ring with a belly-to-belly suplex!
MW: I take it back Steven, Athena is now decisively in control of this match up!
SD: You have to wonder what Freja can do to equalize!
Athena stands over Freja and grabs her by the head, pulling her up to her knees only to get a straight punch to the gut, doubling her over! From her low position Freja pulls Athena over and up into an Argentine backbreaker rack, barely managing to get to her feet with the extra weight! But before she can hit the Ura Go 2 Sleep knee strike Athena wriggles out of the hold, dropping down in front with her back to Freja! Freja tries to make the best of a bad situation and elbows Athena hard in the back of the head before spinning her around and kicking her in the gut!
SD: I think I've seen this one before.
MW: FISHERMAN BUSTER!
Freja hits it, Athena collapsing to the mat! Freja retreats of one of the corners and lies in wait as Athena slowly, instinctively pulls herself towards the opposite turnbuckle. Athena gets to her feet in the corner and Freja dashes straight for her! But Athena sees her coming and practically throws herself out through the middle ropes to avoid the Freeze Shock single leg dropkick!
SD: Smart move from Athena, that dropkick can end a match at a moment's notice!
MW: She isn't safe yet however, Freja is more than capable of changing plans on the fly.
Sure enough Freja stops in her tracks, Athena lying down on the apron, just starting to pull herself up. Freja looks to the ropes opposite and then back to Athena as the crowd start catching on, cheering Freja on. Freja runs the ropes just as Athena gets to her feet and jumps right through the middle rope, hitting a shocking suicide spear and knocking Athena hard against the barricade. The crowd breaks out into a "holy shit" chant.
SD: Yeah, what they said!
MW: Freja hitting a hellacious spear, an unusual move for her, leaving both women out col-
Before Watson can finish his thought Freja pushes herself straight back to her feet, yelling out to the crowd, adrenaline keeping her going despite her self-destructive offence!
SD: Nice to hear you get cut off for once Watson.
Freja gets straight back to work, turning her attention to Athena who's slumped up against the barricade, barely conscious. Freja grabs Athena by the head, soaks in the crowd's anticipation for a second, and pulls her opponent's head down just as fast as she lifts her knee up, striking a vicious knee straight to Athena's head! Freja pulls Athena up, still grabbing her by the head, and uses a Falcon Arrow-style lift to drop Athena hard onto the apron!
SD: Rumor has it that's the hardest part of the ring!
MW: Oh will you stop..
Freja pushes Athena into the ring and climbs up onto the apron herself, slingshotting herself over the ring ropes to hit a leg drop on Athena! Freja gets to her feet and pulls Athena up with her before Irish whipping Athena across the ring into the opposite ropes! Freja goes for a superkick and Athena sidesteps, hitting the opposite ropes and rebounding! Freja tries to catch Athena again with a rear elbow strike, but Athena dodges again! This time Freja starts to follow, rebounding off the ropes just a fraction of a second after Athena does, and Freja goes for another Freeze Shock only for Athena to block Freja's foot with her hands, letting Freja drop to the mat!
MW: Athena using her agility to take back control, letting Freja wear herself out!
Athena immediately takes her opportunity, delivering a swift stomp to Freja's head and waving off the crowd's disapproval!
SD: Athena playing it smart, realizing she needs to make up for the beating she's taken however possible.
MW: I wouldn't call it smart as much as I'd call it dirty.
SD: Tell me Watson, where in the rulebook does it say you can't kick your opponent while they're down? It was always one of my personal favorite tricks.
MW: Point proven.
Athena sends two more kicks, this time to Freja's shoulder before grabbing her arm and dragging her up to her feet. Athena then grabs Freja's head and hits a knee strike of her own, just the same way Freja did to her, leaving Freja kneeling on the ground.
MW: Athena looking to finish this match, putting Freja in perfect position for the Razekick!
Athena turns and runs towards the ropes, not seeing as Freja takes off after her again! Athena hits the ring ropes just as Freja jumps for the Freeze Shock!
Athena barely dodges, the kick just grazing her shoulder!!!
SD: That was close!
MW: For just a second it was all over for Athena, but Freja's about to pay the price of missing her chance!
As Freja hits the mat on her back Athena moves to her head and drops down, grabbing Freja by the neck. Athena pulls Freja up to her feet, still keeping her arm around Freja's neck, and lifts Freja into an inverted suplex!
MW: I know what this is!
SD: And those that don't are about to learn...
Athena steps forward backwards, hitting the Razeplex, inverted suplex cutter!
MW: It's over Steven!
Athena goes for the cover, hooking Freja's leg!
1!
2!
3!
DB: Here is your winner, Athena Dai!
SD: Beautiful foresight from Athena, attacking the shoulder so Freja couldn't reverse the Razeplex, walking out with the victory!
MW: That said, Freja gave herself a good showing in defeat, dominating for much of the match.
Athena walks up the entrance ramp, clutching her head after trading blows with Freja who sits up in the ring, quietly contemplating and nursing her own injuries.
SD: Both of these women have proven that they're worth the Freedom Fighters' time.
Backstage, we see Clutch McCloud in the trainer's room with an ice pack on his arm. Richard Crowley is talking to him.
RC: I'm working on rescheduling your match until next week when you're all healed and-
CMC: No. I'm competing tonight. And I'm going to win this damn tournament.
Clutch gets up and leaves the room. Crowley sighs and follows him.
Match 5: Azazel vs Justice Legal
"Wish it Away" plays and out comes Justice Legal. He carries a chair to the ring and he sits in it when he gets inside the ring.
SD: Justice Legal storming down to the ring!
MW: He looks ready for one hell of a fight.
SD: And one hell of a fight this will be!
DB: The following contest is a singles match scheduled for-
Justice Legal grabs the mic from Dasha.
JL: No need for introductions, Dasha. Let's just get to fighting.
"Martyr" hits as Azazel comes out, holding a torch. He places the torch on a ring post and he sits cross legged under the torch, staring coldly at Legal.
MW: What the hell-
Mike is cut off as the bell rings and Azazel and Justice Legal immediately run at each other. Azazel hits Legal with a roundhouse kick, getting him on his knees.
MW: I've never seen Justice Legal get taken out so quickly!
SD: There's something very dark and enigmatic about Azazel..
Azazel hits The Night, a running knee strike, on Legal before going for the cover.
1!
2!
3!
SD: Wow! With "The Night", Azazel has beaten Justice Legal in a matter of seconds.
MW: And think about how quickly Justice Legal dispatched Erick Skaar and Zeke! Azazel beat him even quicker.
Azazel takes to the mic.
A: One by one they will step up.. and one by one they will fall.
Azazel leaves the ring.
MW: Strong words by Azazel. Do you think anyone will be able to beat him?
SD: I don't know but it will be interesting to see who faces him every week!
Backstage we see Zeke and Erick Skaar arguing.
ES: I wasn't even the one pinned! This is all your fault!
Z: Well you'll get pinned if you step into the ring with me.
ES: Oh really boy? You wanna go?
Jim Houston walks into frame.
JH: Guys, guys! If you really want to prove yourselves again, fine. Next episode, you'll face each other in a match. The winner will face Justice Legal on episode 3.
Erick turns to Zeke again.
ES: I'm going to savor destroying you.
Erick leaves as Zeke kicks a nearby trash can over.
Match 6: Adam Thompson vs Kassius Boone - guest written by Jerry Bishop
MW: Next up, Steven, we've got ourselves a real slugfest, tag team specialist, "The One Man Riot" Kassius Boone goes one on one with "the Pendragon", Adam Thompson!
DB: The following contest is a first round match in the FPW World Championship tournament and it is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Plymouth, Devon, in the United Kingdom, he is "the Rightful King of England", Adam Thompson!
A spotlight shines at the top of the ramp as Foo Fighters' "The Feast and the Famine" hits over the speakers. Thompson emerges from backstage to a respectable pop from the crowd. Thompson acknowledges some of the fans along the ramp and enters the ring, rolling his neck and shadow boxing a bit.
DB: And his opponent, from Brooklyn, New York, accompanied by Davis Reynolds, he is "the One Man Riot", Kassius Boone!
Boone makes his way out of the curtain as "Good Man" by Devour the Day hits. Reynolds follows close and hypes up the crowd while Boone stares down Thompson in the ring. Boone climbs through the ropes without breaking eye contact.
MW: Look at these two brawlers, hungry for a fight!
SD: They do look like they haven't been fed properly, given our catering budget...
The two men shake hands as the referee calls for the bell. Reynolds pounds on the mat to get the crowd going for Boone. Boone and Thompson circle each other and lock up, with Boone getting the upper hand, putting Thompson in a waistlock. Boone hits a vertical suplex to Thompson, tossing him towards the ropes. Thompson climbs up and charges Boone, who catches him with a whip into the opposite ropes. Boone pops Thompson off the rebound for a Very European Uppercut. Reynolds gestures to the crowd to get them clapping.
MW: Look at the strength of Boone, tossing the Pendragon sky high for that uppercut!
SD: The man isn't even European, he shouldn't be uppercutting people like that.
Thompson gets to one knee as Boone looks to grab him for a cradle DDT. Thompson counters with an elbow to Boone's head, creating some separation. Thompson then unleashes a flurry of punches onto Boone before whipping him into the ropes. As Boone returns, Thompson scoops him up for a spinebuster. Thompson makes a cover.
1!
2!
Boone kicks out!
Thompson climbs up the turnbuckle as Boone gets his bearings on the mat. Thompson calls for an elbow drop from the top.
MW: Thompson looking to pay homage to the great Randy Savage!
SD: He'll have to be a bit quicker than that, though!
As Thompson makes his dive off the turnbuckle, Boone rolls to the side, and Thompson crashes to the mat. Boone heads into a corner and winds up a discus clothesline, connecting with Thompson as he reaches his feet. Boone goes for a cover.
1!
2!
Thompson kicks out!
Reynolds pounds on the mat to give Boone some energy from the crowd. Boone picks up Thompson and whips him into the ropes, looking for a big boot, but Thompson manages to dodge the boot and hit Boone with a slingblade, dropping him to the mat.
MW: How's that for quick, Steven?
SD: Hush, you.
Thompson pulls Boone up and hits him with a series of elbows, dazing him, before picking him up onto his shoulders.
MW: I think he's looking for it!
SD: The move that's almost as strong as the sword itself!
Thompson carries Boone to the center of the ring and plants him with Excalibur for the cover.
1!
2!
3!
The referee calls for the bell as Thompson rolls off Boone and catches his breath. Reynolds climbs into the ring and helps Boone to sit up.
DB: Here is your winner and advancing in the FPW World Championship tournament, Adam Thompson!
Thompson gets to his feet and extends a hand to Boone to help him up. After a moment, Boone accepts the hand up and shakes it before exiting the ring with Reynolds. Thompson then poses on the turnbuckle as his music hits and the crowd cheers.
MW: A hard-fought bout between two of FPW's biggest bruisers, nothing to be ashamed of after that one!
Nick Leeds is seen sitting backstage, frustrated. Mark Anderson and Paul Meyers, The Hardcases, approach him.
MA: Hey, um, we heard you was a manager and we was wondering if you wanted to, um, what's the word..
NL: Manage you?
PM: Yeah, that's it!
NL: Short answer? No.]
Anderson and Meyers' faces turn sour.
NL: Not even I can get you on the card.
Leeds gets up and leaves as The Hardcases start to argue with each other.
Main event: Clutch McCloud vs Sabre
MW: Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for our main event! The final first round match in our championship tournament!
SD: But Clutch McCloud is heading into the match with an injury. Surely that will affect the match?
MW: We'll see.
DB: The following contest is your main event and it is a first round match in the FPW World Championship tournament and it is scheduled for one fall!
"Anitra's Dance" hits and Sabre walks out, sneering at the crowd.
DB: Entering first, from parts unknown, Sabre!
Sabre enters the ring and raises his fists, soaking in imaginary cheers from the crowd.
SD: Sabre has made quite a name for himself throughout the indie scene and with that, I know who I'm cheering for.
MW: Clutch is no stranger to fame either..
SD: Yeah but he's injured. Sabre is always in perfect health!
MW: I doubt he's always-
SD: Just sit back and enjoy the greatness that is.. Sabre!
The boos change to huge cheers as "This Fire" plays and Clutch McCloud enters, hyped as ever, with his agent, Richard Crowley, in tow.
DB: And his opponent, being accompanied by Richard Crowley, from The Gateway City, "King" Clutch McCloud!
Clutch slaps the fans' hands as he walks to the ring, much to the chagrin of Crowley.
MW: Clutch has wrestled all over the world as a member of the WWE roster, along with having a very successful basketball career.
SD: But that doesn't mean anything here. You haven't accomplished anything unless you've done it in FPW.
MW: Okay, Vince.
The bell rings and Sabre rolls out of the ring to taunt the crowd.
MW: Come on!
SD: It's a smart strategy! I like it.
Sabre turns around and he gets hit with a discus lariat from Clutch.
MW: That's what you get!
Clutch tosses Sabre back into the ring. He hits Sabre with a belly to back suplex before yelling to the crowd to get them fired up. He begins to rub his arm, which is noticeably hurting.
SD: Jeremiah Johnson may not be here right now but his handiwork sure paid off!
Clutch is too distracted by his injury though, as Sabre takes down his legs. Sabre drops his fist and then he hip tosses Clutch. Clutch gets up but Sabre is already up and he hits Clutch with a bunch of chop variations. He then hits an armdrag and keeps working on the arm but Clutch muscles out of it. Clutch hits a pele kick and they both go down.
MW: This is already turning into a really back and forth match!
Clutch and Sabre get up at the same time but Clutch manages to hit an enziguri followed by a hurricanrana to get Sabre back on the ground. Sabre gets up and Clutch kicks him in the gut and hits a sunset flip powerbomb.

Sabre kicks out!
MW: What?! How did he kick out of that?
SD: I don't like Clutch but even I know that was one hell of a powerbomb.
Clutch looks shocked, as does Crowley at ringside. Clutch attempts an Irish whip but Sabre reverses it into an Irish whip of his own, hitting Clutch with a forearm to stop him. Sabre begins to hit Clutch with more chops but Clutch fires back with some forearms. Eventually Clutch starts to no-sell the chops, yelling for more.
SD: Fighting spirit! It's just like Japan, isn't it?
MW: ..Totally.
Clutch takes control, hitting various forearms and uppercuts before attempting the "Technical Foul" discus forearm.
MW: It's over- Wait, no!
Sabre ducks and Clutch hits the ref, sending him crashing down.
SD: Clutch should rename himself Klutz McCloud! What was that?!
MW: It was something carefully planned by Sabre it seems!
Clutch rubs his injured arm as Richard Crowley jumps up on the ring apron to interfere but Clutch tells him not to.. right before he gets low blowed by Sabre. Crowley looks on as Sabre rolls Clutch up.
SD: YES! SABRE YOU CAN DO THIS!

Sabre lets go as he realizes the ref got knocked down.
SD: Sabre had this won! I can't believe Clutch screwed him over!
MW: No, it was Sabre who screwed himself! This is his fault!
He wakes the ref up but when he turns around, Clutch is back up. Clutch tries to hit the TarHEEL running bicycle kick but Sabre dodges again. This time, Clutch stops himself before hitting the ref.
MW: Thank god..
Sabre takes advantage of the distraction and he hits an arm drag before transitioning it right into an armbar.
SD: COME ON SABRE YOU GOT THIS YOU'RE THE BEST IN THE WORLD!
MW: Can Sabre capitalize on that distraction?
Sabre wrenches the arm further and Clutch taps out.
SD: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The bell rings and Sabre takes a bow as the crowd boos the hell out of him. Sabre rolls out as Richard Crowley checks on Clutch.
DB: Here is your winner and advancing in the FPW World Championship tournament, Sabre!
MW: That, sadly, marks the end of the very first episode of Freedom Pro Wrestling! Thank you and goodnight.
SD: SABRE IS GONNA BE WORLD CHAMP WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
The end.
