Backstory:
At the age of 18, McCloud accepted a scholarship to play basketball at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He was with the team from 2006-2010, winning a National Championship with the team in 2009. During his tenure at UNC, he won multiple Naismith Awards as well as other accolades. After leaving North Carolina, he was a first round draft pick by the San Antonio Spurs. With the Spurs, McCloud enjoyed success, as he won the NBA Finals in 2014. The success would go to his head though, as he found himself struggling with substance abuse. This became too much of a distraction and McCloud found himself in the unemployment line. After a hard fought battle to get clean, Clutch found himself in the WWE Performance Center along with his agent, Sir Richard Crowley. Clutch learned surprisingly quick and found himself on NXT in no time, where he won the NXT Championship. Enjoying one of the longest reigns in history, Clutch left NXT and rose to fame on the main roster, feuding with the likes of John Cena and Randy Orton. During his tenure with WWE, Clutch became the Intercontinental Champion as well as WWE Champion via a Money in the Bank cash-in. Things would come to a screeching halt in 2016 where he fell victim to the Golden Shovel of Triple H. Triple H stood up for his friend Randy Orton after Clutch tried to end Orton's career via a Punt Kick. After two months of floundering on the midcard, Clutch told Trips what he could kiss and where he could go and left the WWE. Since then, Clutch has struggled to stay in one place consistently making sporadic appearances in New Japan as well as Ring of Honor and Global Force Wrestling.
